Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a burning question for the Ice House Road Boys (or girl)? If you have a general burning sensation, please see your doctor. But if you have a burning question, please email burningquestions@ranchhandrecords.com

Is there really an Ice House Road?

Yes, that is where IHR has practiced for the past 7 years. (check out the picture of the road sign elsewhere on this web site) Sadly, we are no longer based on Ice House Road.

What is "Progressive-Alt-Western-Outlaw Country-Blues-Rock?"

Honestly, it is really a cry for help... No actually, it is a way to not get lumped in with the "Country Rockers" or the "Rockin' Country" Bands. Not that they suck, or that think that we are better, or anything like that. Its just that we really don't fit in with them. We don't really play a "variety" of music, such as the bands with those labels. We play what we play, the way we play it. It may be a Dylan, or Cash, or Cure song, but they all seem to come out the same once we are done with them. We are liking our friend Bryan's description more and more: "Acid Country."

Do you play requests?

Sure, if we know the song already. We are here to make our fans happy. However, we do not know that many songs outside of our current playlist. Check out the Ice House Road Play List page for suggestions!

I want to talk with my friends when I come see you, will you turn down?

No. If it is too loud, PLEASE heed the wise words in our theme song: "The More You Drink... The Better We Sound"

My Restaurant/winery/funeral home would really like to book you to play, will you not play so damn loud?

We play at the volume that is required for our music. We warn EVERYONE about that. We would love to play at your venue/event; however, sometimes certain things just don't belong together. We get that, no harm no foul. Please do not think that we will change our sound and/or music for your venue/event. If you want us to play, we'll play. If you ask us to turn down, we probably can't. Editor's note: We are currently seeking a sound engineer that may be able to help with our over-all volume issues. If you know someone that would like to run sound for us, or would like to learn from a 30+ year veteran producer, please let us know!!!

I'm not an alcoholic, can I still enjoy IHR's music?

JR is not an alcoholic, and he loves our music, so there is hope for you.

Are you really auditioning for America's Got Talent?

You Damn Skippy! Even though the tour fell through, AGT added more dates closer to us just so IHR could audition! Thank you AGT! AGT Update: Sorry folks, you will have to enjoy AGT without Ice House Road. We are very proud of our performance at the auditions, but we did not make the cut. AGT is still, and will always remain, an awesome show. And who knows... maybe we'll try again next year...

Are you really outlaws?

That is a complicated question. Individually, we are upstanding middle class citizens, but as a group, we have had "special" relationships with the local constabulary in several jurisdictions. (please see the answers to the "volume FAQ's above)

I came to see IHR play, and I woke up in a strange bed in a strange house, next to a stranger. I no longer remember my name. Can you help me?

You are someone who knows what needs to be done in order to enjoy IHR. Welcome to the family. And, by the way, make sure to check out the Calendar Page to see where we are next week!

What would you do if you got famous?

Write more songs, play more music, make more Records. But first (and most important) of all, we would hire people to haul all of our gear
